Out of the four entries we saw in class today, my personal faivourite was the Sony one which was advertising the television but the most effective one to a wider audience is in my opinion the Pepsi advert. This is because firstly, it featured three internationally famous celebrities which beats the number of celebrities used in the other adverts. Although I'm not a fan of any of them, the point is that there are thousands of people (teenage girls in particular) who are and would drink whatever their idol drinks because they're 'wannabes'. Futhermore, the large majority of men from the age of 20 to 40 would find the female celebrities attractive or even gorgeous since they're practically wearing almost nothing at all except a few pieces of armour that look more like bikinis. In addition, at the arena foreshadowed fighting, death, blood and action so it would make the audience eager to watch more.
The music used in the Pepsi advert (We will rock you... music) was also a very popular song that everyone knows and the camera kept on coming back to the huge crate of Pepsi can which eventually slid right off the Emperor's balcony straight onto a massive mound of ice.The other adverts didn't emphasise on the company/product name as much as this one so the word Pepsi is drilled into the audience's mind due to constant repetition. All the other adverts only mentioned the actual product at the very end. The constrast between the ice and blazing hot sand made the Pepsi cans look immensly cool and refreshing, therefore making the product more appealing. The colour of the Pepsi logos on the cans really stood out againt the dull background, making it very eye-catching too. Lastly, almost anyone, even the poorer families, can still afford a bottle of Pepsi whilst if you compare it to the products, only the wealthy can purchase genuine Chanel no. 5 perfume, Guiness or a decent salary to acquire a brand new TV.
