Keeping the Moon

Keeping the Moon was a book that taught you the important things is life. It started out with a girl named Colie who had her "Fat Years", as her mother calls it. When she and her mother were travelling around America, moving from place to place they were both really big. Until they moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, both of them were constantly trying to lose weight. At Lady Fitness, a popular gym, Colie's mother Katherine actually started losing weight with some aerobic classes. When she started to see this change, she became the famous aerobics instructor- Kiki Sparks. Since then, Colie had a hard time at school. She was called names everyday, had no friends and felt horrible.

Then one summer, her mother decides to send her to her Aunt Mira. There, she automatically got a job and worked with people who really didn't like her much. But as she keeps working, she learns more about these coworkers. Once she got to know them, she realized that they had more in common than she thought. In the town of Colby, she was transformed into a totally new different person who had self-respect, stood up for herself, and made herself a better person. Just within one summer, she learned a lot.

I think that by reading this book it tells you that you may have hard times with school, socializing, and more, but most importantly, she learned what friendship is all about and learned to appreciate who she really is.
