The Road of the Dead by Kevin Brooks

When Ruben and Cole's sister has been found, strangled and raped, on the way back in a moor near the village where she visited to see an old school friend, Abbie Gorman- they accept she's dead. "Dead is dead" as Cole says, "Nothing can change that" but they all want her body back so they can bury it because that's the least she deserves. However, the police need it for examining and forensic tests so therefore, the only way to retrieve it swiftly is to pin down the identity of her murderer. Taking the matter into their own hands, the brothers embark on a journey to retrace Rachel's last steps for clues and although a road of trials, danger, violence and betrayal lies ahead, they're ready for whtever it takes.

This novel is suitable for those who enjoy a fast-paced thriller/ mystery type mixed with action. It contains a few swear words here and there but it's no big deal because the novel still retains its suspense and books nowadays always contain lots of colourful language anyway. Although it mentions words like "dead" often it's not a horror novel and is in no way frightening.
