Inspector Thanet Series: Six Feet Under

The second entry in the series. Unlike the first one, this would not disappoint you by the irrelevant long plot.

Thanet has a serious family issue: when his son Ben is old enough to go to school, his wife Joan would get a new job and this would change his life but for the best or the worst? But that's not all, when another murder happens in Nettleton. The victim is Carrie Birch, a mysterious and a victim of claustrophobia by none other than her mother, Mrs Birch. As Thanet investigates further, he comes across thousand-pound packets in Carrie's room. He even digs out the dark secret behind her murder: Carrie Birch is not a normal woman, she is a snooper. And what she was snooping for is the thing that led her to a tragic end.

Again, Simpson has impressed me with vivid details of the atmosphere and the scene of the crime, so detailed that you can easily picture it in your mind. With every words, Simpson builds up tension for the readers with carefully characterization of each characters and the detailed atmosphere, creating an ominous feeling and suspense for readers. Each character is very alive and unique with interesting conversations. I love how Inspector Thanet works: basing on emotions and psychological things, he can corner the suspects and make them spit out the real truth. A classic whodunit type.

the kissing club

This is not my favourite book. im not really like it because it is too disgusting.
It is basically about a girl called Emily and she had a best friend Augusta. She was the top student in school and alway got A's for every subject. But when Emily was dragged into a club by Augusta. It was famously known as "the kissing club." In that club, Emily best friend fall in love with a skinny. cute guy which people called him Wesley.
There were some several rules in this romantic club. Unfortunately, Emily broke the rules and did something extremely bad that she shouldn't done. her parents were totally disappoint with her but they couldnt stopped her misbehave problems. While Augusta was spending time with her prince charming, Wesley, shes getting fatter everyday. She kept complaining how she couldnt stop eating and how Wesley was so skinny and fit. For once, Welsey asked her out and she agreed. They went out mostly everytime and kiss everywhere.
Augusta liked to eat lots and lots of food. she couldnt stopped because she mostly felt hungry all the time. Not for long. Welsey asked Augusta to married him and with out any thinking she agreed. But when she told to Emily, Emily was in a bad situations......
something horrible that you never know...if you havent read it yet.
i think this kissing club book should be read by a teenager or an adults because this book is basically about some elderly things that younger students under 12 years old shouldnt be reading.
This is not my favourite book.

Forever by Judy Blume

The story is about young love, the first sexual encounter of a high school girl. Katherine, the protagonist, wants to make her first experience mean something. She does not want to lose her virginity merely for the sake of physical satisfaction or curiosity. She wants her relationship with her boyfriend Michael to have emotions attached to it. Her and Michael's relationship deepens, and finally she relents to his gentle suggestions.
Katherine learns more than just what it means to have a sexual relationship. She matures through the process, gains confidence, and discovers that when one is young, sometimes "forever" does not mean the same thing as "everlasting."
I don't like this book a bit because it has disgusting details about sexual contact so if i recommend this book for young adults from 16+.

Inspector Thanet Series: The Night She Died

A classic whodunit book. Written by Dorothy Simpson.

Inspector Thanet is investigating a case of the murder of Julie Holmes. Julie was stabbed in the chest by a kitchen knife. There are 3 primary suspects along with 5 irrelevant suspects. Before Julie was murdered, she suffered a hideous nightmare about her trapped in a cage and emotionally shattered. Could the nightmare be any relevant to her death? Could Inspector Thanet was not solving one murder case but... two?
At first this book was very interesting and suspense. Simpson has made almost every scenes of the book descriptive and detailed, making the readers imagining them clearly. Simpson also has done a pretty good job on building tensions with twists. The plot disappointed me, half of the plot is about investigating 5 irrelevant suspects and to my disappointment, it was a waste of time and the conclusion is very abrupt and lame. There are tons of vocabulary and some old English words (since this book was published in 1981).

Mrs.Bennet, the mother of Jane;Elizabeth;Mary;Catherine and Lydia is obssessed about getting her daughters married as soon as possible, preferably to wealthy and handsome men. The stroy is set in England, in the past when the rich often looked down on the less fortunate as they still might do so today. When Mr.Bingley settles in Netherfield, a short distance away from Longbourne where the Bennets reside, they quickly become acquainted with him upon the insistence of Mrs.Bennet, who's already fantasising about one of her children becoming a Mrs.Bingley. Jane and Mr.Bingley develop a relationship, however, his friend Mr.Darcy and his sisters don't approve due to Jane's lower social status. While Lydia and Kitty flirt with the officers from the regiment staying in town, Elizabeth meets the dashing Mr.Wickam who informs her about terrible deeds commited by Mr.Darcy who at the same time, becomes infatuated with Elizabeth and keeps on glancing at her. Is Wickam lying? Could he? Why would he? He seems so amiable and polite that it's hard to believe that. Throughout the rest of the story, Elizabeth discovers the true nature of Mr.Darcy who isn't really as haughty or arrogant as he seems and maybe she has feelings for him as well?

Since this novel is a classical, you have to read it more carefully to fully comprehend the meaning of some sentences and what's going on. It's NOT boring as I secretly expected it to be at first and it's also great for expanding your vocabulary.

Ark Angel

This again a fantastic book from Anthony Horowitz. In this book Alex Rider is in a hospital and determined to put his spying days behind him but the reluctant teenage superspy is forced into action once again when a group of deadly ecoterrorists breaks in.
Suddenly Alex finds himself in the middle of a war that seems to be somehow connected to Ark Angel, a revolutionary space hotel. This time he will have to push himself to the very limits - and beyond.
"Horowitz is pure class, stylish but action-packed... being James Bond in miniture is way cooler than being a wizard." this is really again a fantastic book.

Bad girls by Jacqueline Wilson

The title of this book 'Bad Girls' was quite interesting for me. Why is 'Bad Girls' the title? Did the main character cause trouble? Is she bad kind of girls who is bullying somebody at school? Is she in jail or something because she stole something or even killed somebody? but when i started reading this book the main character Mandy was absolutely different with what I thought before. She was oppositeb of my imagine. Mandy White was a normal girl but also not quite normal. She was being bullied at school and always wants to be Miranda Rainbow who is her ideal person made up by her imagination. Miranda Rainbow is fashionable and sensible. She is just perfect! but Mandy White was a normal childish girl. she hates to go to school. Meanwhile she met a new friend Tanya. Tanya was similar to her ideal person Miranda Rainbow. Tanya was older than her but still they became good friends. Even though she was bullied at school she was happy with Tanya after school but Mandy's mum thinks that mandy is becoming sophitiscated after she played with Tanya and this cause many fights between her and Mandy. At this stage I agreed with Mandy. I hate these kind of situation when mums treat and thinks their children as a baby even though we are already over 10 years old but my thought changed when I knew that Tanya has bad habit which is shoplifting and because of her this bad habit she had to go to a childeren's home. Tanya and mandy cried when the time came up of Tanya's departure and after she leaves Mandy started to didn't care about people who bullies her. During the class time Mandy's class talked about bullying and they stopped bullying her and became sorry to her. This book was probably about bullying and friendship. i hate people who bullies their classmates. Being a classmate is same as being a friend. You have to help when they are having difficulties and suffering. Friendship is very important for teenagers and so do I. Friends are huge part of my life these time of life. Well i guess, nobody don't want to have friends and want to be bullied. What I Learned from this book is that when you want to bully somebody, change your positions of them and you. Think about how you will feel. I think this book gives a good moral.

The Last Olympian

Finally, this is the last series of Percy Jacksonn. This book is about the battle between the Olympians and Titans. Half-bloods are in Olympians side but some half bloods like Luke is on Titans side. Beckondorf and Percy destroyed Kronos's boat with a huge explosion. Beckondorf was killed while in process and Percy jumped into the sea and lived. Kronos was still alive and so Luke. Kronos was living in Luke's body and Luke lost his control of his body therefore Luke was now Kronos. In the camp half blood Percy met Nico, son of Hades, and went to meet Luke's mother to know more about Luke. Her mother was talking about Luke's destiny and thought Percy was Luke. Percy used his hell hound and used shadow travelling skill to go to underworld with Nico then. Nico's father Hades wanted to see Percy to talk and if Nico brought Percy to underworld then he would then let Nico see his mother. That was the deal made between Nico and Hades. Nico brought Percy but Hades tried to kill Percy which wasn't what he promised. Nico took Percy out of the Underworld and took Percy to the river styxe where was the curse of Achilles was remaining. Percy took a bath in the river Styxe and became invincible except from one spot behind his back. Hades came after but Percy could now beat his army easily. Hades returned to the underworld and Percy went off to New York to stop Typhon coming to the Olympus. Percy used sand dollars to convince the spirit of the river and killed all the enemy coming by river. Nico persuaded his father Hades and Hades came up to fight to help the Olympians. . The rest of the Olympian was fighting to stop Typhon and Poseidon was fighting the enemies who invaded to his palace. Percy needed to talk to his father Poseidon therefore he sat on Poseidon's throne to take his attention. Poseidon talked to Percy. It was very dangerous thing to sit on God's throne but Percy did it. Percy asked Poseidon to stop fighting underwater and had to come up and stop Typhon. It was a hard decision for Poseidon to leave his Palace destroyed. Poseidon did as what Percy asked and with Tyson, Percy's half brother, he chained Typhon approaching anymore. Luke's was still a little bit conscious therefore he asked to kill him. Kronos was killed and Luke was killed as well. When the Olympians returned, Hermes carried Luke's body and went away. Percy was asked to be Lieutenenant of his father which is being a god but Percy refused instead he wanted every god to claim their own son and made more cabin for minor god's son

Soul eater by Michelle Paver

This novel is set in a time after the ice age but before agricultural methods of farming have spread to Europe. When Wolf, Torak's cherished pack-brother and dearest friend is kidnapped in winter during a hunting trip, Torak becomes reckless and decides to chase after him no matter what. Eventually, they discover that the Soul-Eaters are responsible, a group of mages who intend to unite the clans and rule the land themselves by unleashing a horde of demons with the aid of the fire-opal and nine sacrifices- one of which is Wolf. Can Torak stop all darkness from breaking loose?

This novel belongs to the adventure/fantasy category. It's the third installment in the chronicles of ancient darkness and you can find the first two in the library.

Imaginary enemy by Julie Gonzalez

This is a story about a girls life where she blames everything on her imaginary enemy and writes letters to him. It is an amazing book about this girl and her world, her neighbors and school friends, i don't want to give too much away but what would you do if your imaginary enemy (Bubba) wrote back to you?

Wolf Brother- Chronicles of ancient darkness- Michelle Paver

This is a novel that i like because it is different than most story lines. This is set about 4000 years ago when people lived in clans and tribes. It is about a boy called Torak who lived with his father, alone, even though they were in the Wolf clan. It starts out with he and his 'fa' recovering from a bear attack, but not any bear, a possessed bear. Fa would not be able to recover so he sends Torak to the mountain of the world spirit, this mountain has never been found before so Torak doesn't know why his fa is making walk to the mountain range at least afew day walks ahead. Fa made Torak swear on an oath to make it to the mountain or die trying, he also said Torak needed to find his guide. Once Torak starts to get ready the sense of the bear returns and Torak is forced to move forward with his oath. Outside of his campsite he finds a wolf cub who's family has been killed by the demon, he thinks this is an easy meal but he can't bring himself to hunt him, somehow Torak can understand him. The wolf accompanies the twelve year old in his journey and somehow knows exactly where to go to get to the mountain of the world spirit. He is then held captive by the Raven clan with Wolf, they call him the listener and try to decide wether to sacrifice him or not, because of a prophecy. There he learns that the reason he can speak to wolves is because his mom died when he was only 2 moons (months) old and his dad put him with a pack of wolf cubs to be cared for by the mother of the cubs, speaking to wolves is part of the prophecy. He is set free by the leaders niece, Renn, they then go on a journey to find the mountain with Renn. But the clan is not far behind, neither is the demon bear.
This is a great book that i recommend for ages 10 and up.

Going For the Record

Going For The Record was a very touching story by Julie A. Swanson. A 16-year-old girl named Leah Weiczynkowski (her last name is super confusing) who found out that her dad had cancer and only had 3 more months left to live. I think that worst thing to have been told is how much longer you're going to live. When her father was diagnosed with cancer, Leah was making her way to the U18 National Soccer Championships which could have led her to the Olympics. This was her aim in life and everything came crashing down.

Since her dad used to be her "private driver" he went to every one of her matches and practices. Now that he was sick, she couldn't go anywhere and started missing some required matches for college. During the periods while she was at home taking care of her dad, she kept thinking what she would be doing if she were over at the game. All these thoughts kept dragging her down until she realized that all of it wasn't important anymore. Staying by her dad's side was the greatest thing she could have done at that moment.

You never know something is important to you until it's gone.

Quirkology - Richard Wiseman

My mom says that if you read a book that you can't even understand the title then it would be hard to understand what is going on in the book. But for the first time, she is wrong. I am pretty sure why the author's name is Wiseman because this book is a about science of everyday lives.
This book answer almost every curious question that sometimes we can't even ask because we are afraid that the person we are asking wouldn't have a clue. People have different beliefs that sometimes turn out to be very odd then they ask strange questions like "how does the way i walk reveal my personality?". And it is funny that Professor Wiseman can answer them all after a long time spending his time in the haunted house, doing experiments in over thirty countries and dressing up as a chicken (sometimes i wonder dressing up as a chicken would relates to science but who knows).
It's fun to read a 'fun facts' book because facts are fun! So check it out.

Purple Hibiscus

Purple Hibiscus is written by an author who has a very long name that i was afraid to put at the title of this entry: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
This is a religious book that is not really suitable for everyone that does not know well about religious studies like me.
The novel tell a story of a 15 years old girl named Kambili who is afraid of her father who is a charismatic and violent Catholic patriarch but generous and well-respected in the community. Furthermore, he is repressive and has compulsion towards religious at home. Kambili and her brother, Jaja, are forced to live at their aunt's home due to Nigeria is shaken by a military coup. At their new home their wounds by their father start to heal and they live better lives than they have ever live.
I find it pretty hard to understand the plot but it turns out to be easy to read because the use of language is very simple and the vocabulary is not that complex. After all, it is fun to start reading something more complicated and i can't wait to read 'Half of a Yellow Sun' also by Adichie!

Dispatches - Michael Herr

Michael Herr is someone i've never heard of but this book of him is brilliant. Dispatches is a book that would inspire someone like me who especially hates book about war.
The book is just simply about Herr's experiences in the Vietnam war, about how the soldiers lived, the health conditions there were in and how they fought. This book is more than just a historical textbook, it's a novel, a real story brilliant use of languages and the accurate historical accounts.
It isn't a textbook that you learn at school but i learned from this book that war isn't just about fighting and being tough, it's about courage and sacrificing. The book really would inspire you to live better, to appreciate what you have already got and to pay attentions to things around you (which means not to be selfish :]). Over all, i loved it!

Spider-Man: Drowned in Thunder

You don't need to know about Spider-Man comics to read this, as the novel explains everything as it goes on.

The story setting is in New York, Manhattan. One night, Spidey is swinging around the buildings when he sees a crime happpens, he stops it but a citizen is hurt. J Jonah Jameson, head of the Daily Bugle, who has called Spider-Man a menace rather than a hero, quickly puts on the news and frames the accident on Spider-Man, of course Spidey has endured him for a very long time. But when a robot attack, led by Electro, injures Peter Parker's students and Jameson then blames it on Spider-Man again. Peter has enough, he then decides to take their fight on a deeper, personal dimension. As the webslinger clashes further attacks, his spider-sense warns that Jameson himself is behind them. Driven by anger, he declares war against Jameson. But in their pursuit of winning, they both lost themselves in anger, madness and blindness, falling victim to the dark secret behind the attacks.

The story is pretty good, well developed. There are tons of action, combining with humorous quote by Webhead. It has some hard vocabulary so you have to figure that out yourselves. Christopher L. Bennett has been really focusing on the characterization of Spider-Man and Jameson so they feel very realistic and human. It is overall a good book based on a superhero comic.
this book is also one of the good books of alex rider. Trouble stalks fourteen-year-old Alex Rider wherever he goes. After his uncle's sudden death by the MI6, this is his eighth mission yet. Alex is enjoying a normal lifestyle and when he accompanies his friend Sabina Pleasure and her father to a charity party hosted by Reverand Desmond McCain at Kilmore Castle in Scotland on New Year's Eve, he's not expecting anything unusual. He lands himself in a game of Texas Hold'em with the host himself and somehow, out of sheer luck, Alex wins the competition- grabbing what was almost McCain's victory. this was again a fantastic book from all of the books from alex rider this is such a good book that afterwards you want to read all of the others. this is a really good book.

evil star

This book is called Evil Star and it is by Anthony Horowitz who is my favourite author. This book is in a series called "The Power of 5". There are currently 4 books in the series and this is the 2nd book. There is a boy named Matthew Freeman in this book who is the main character, he is also an orphan. It is called "The Power of 5" because there are 5 gatekeepers who are trying to save the world from "The Old Ones" who are monsters that look like many different animals combined. Matt happens to be one of the 5 gatekeepers. All of these gatekeepers are just ordinary 14 year old children, but they each of them have their own abnormal powers. Out of these 5 gatekeepers, there are 4 boys and a girl. Together they must stop the forces of evil, but if they loose just ONE of them, they won't be able to carry on. Neither of these gatekeepers know each other but they are able to communicate in their dreams.
The Old Ones rise from the earth through "gates" that were built millions of years ago and it is the gatekeepers' job to keep them closed. In this book there is a gate that is about to open in Lima, Peru which is where Matt, travels to alongside his friend Richard Cole, a scientist, whom he met back in England.
Matt finds one of the 5 here in Peru, who is named Pedro and he is just a poor Peruvian boy living in the streets. It is a pain for Matt because Pedro can't speak Peruvian so they can only communicate in their dreams. Richard gets kidnapped in this book by the Incas so right now, it is Matt and Pedro's job to do their best to save Richard, and to find the other 3 of the 5 gatekeepers.

I highly recommend this book because I find the series very interesting.
You can also try the Alex Rider series which is also by Horowitz

The Hallows are revealed to by three mystical objects : the Elder Wand, the permanent Invisibillity Cloak and the Resurrection Stone. Harry figures that Voldemort are aftering the Elder Wand himself. Using the Resurrection Stone, Harry is able to see his parents again, sharing some dear moments with them, who tells Harry to be strong and go against Voldemort. Years after, Jennifer was now Jenna and her life was perfect. Until one day, Cameron came back. Jenna was stunned but didn't know what to say. They sit and talk and Jenna realizes why Cameron left.. They shared their pasts without eachother and the drastically different paths their lives have gone.

This book was a truely sad story but yet mysterious. All of Jenna's questions in the past were answered. I think other girls in our class particuarlly Rielly might really enjoy this book.

Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters

Evermore ..::The Immortals::..

When she was young a gruesome car accident claimed the lives of her family. Ever suvived the accident however now shes been cursed with the ability to see peoples auras, hear their thoughts and know someone's entire life story just from a single touch. Therefore she walks around with ipod at full blast in her ears - to avoid hearing other's thoughts -, fully clothed with baggy jeans that are too long for her and a baggy hoody - to avoid physical contact. She doesnt read or study for tests because when she touches the book all the words flow into her head and during an exam all she needs to do is touch the question and the answer flows into her. Personalyi dont know why her gift is so bad but she sees it as a curse... However everythingin her life chages when Damen August enters her life. Damen is beyound georgous, exotic and wealthy. No wealthy is un understatement. Within thsi book at some point when Ever is mad at him he goes and buys a laptop for each student at the school - a MacBook air no less. As Ever is drawn within this mysterious world of secrets, she is left with more questions then answers. She has no idea what he is, or what she is, but all she knows is that she is falling deeply and helplessly in love with him. I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK. ITS AWESOME. ITS ADDICTIVE. WHEN I WASNT READING IT I WOULD THINK ABOUT WAYS THAT A COULD SNEAK OFF AND READ IT.

The Beckoners by Carrie Mac

When Zoe arrives at Abbotford, she quickly becomes entangled with Beck's gang (the beckoners), a group of sadistic girls who relish in bullying one particular victim- Dog, whose real name is April. Soon enough, Zoe realises that she doesn't want to do anything with the Beckoners anymore after seeing the sort of crowd they hang out with during Beck's party in which she saw a girl being physically harrassed but the huge problem is, the Beckoners aren't going to let her without stirring up lots of trouble. Zoe knows about what they did to another member when she tried to quit and Zoe obviously doesn't want to end up with the same sticky end- shaved bald with the words "Traitor" on her scalp or worse.
This novel was an OK one. The events that ahppen it it are perfectly plausible, bullying is still a big issue in many schools and if you enjoy realistic fiction then you might want to try this if you've nothing else to read.

Catch 22 by Joseph Heller

In a dictionary, Catch 22 means an impossible situation where to get something done you have to do/have a second thing but to do/have the second thing you have to do/have the first thing. In Yossarian's case, a bombardier in the American Air Force during World War II, there's a catch stating that if you're crazy then you may be grounded( dismissed from flying more missions) but the moment you are, you become sane again so that means you have to fly more missions. Yossarian is desperate to quit and so he uses a wide range of tactics to get out of flying because he also has a phobia of dying. To him, the enemy is anyone who is trying to kill him and not only does that involve the Germans who shoot at him everytime he crosses their territory in a jet but Colonel Cathcart too, who's obssessed about being promoted and therefore keeps on raising the number of missions the men must fly. Life's tough, will Yossarian and his pals ever live through it?

I enjoyed this satirical novel because many of scenes are quite hilarious despite the fact that some are tragic and also because the characters are all quirky and eccentric. Under the humour, however, this book does carry a serious message. Even though the men should be fighting against the enemy, most of them quarrel amongst themselves and it's interesting reading about the schemes many of them (especially the Colonels and Generals) are always plotting against each other.

Frostbite ..::Vampire Academy::..

This is the second VAMPIRE ACADEMY novel. It is written by Richelle Mead who is truly brilliant (in my opinion). Within this book, Rose Hathaway has serious guy trouble. Her georgous tutor Dimitry, who shes been crushing on since she's laid eyes on him, has an eye for someone else. One of her best friends Mason confesses his undying love for her, though she doesnt feel the same way towards him. She keeps getting stuck in her best friends head while shes making out with her boyfriend, Christian (you wont truly inderstand that part unless you read the book). To add on to the stress there occurs a massive Strigoi attack upon the St. Vladmir school, which sends everyone on high alert. To protect the royal Moroi form the strigoi the school is now crawling with guardians, including the legendary Janine Hathaway who happens to be Roses long lost mother who she hasnt seen since she was a baby.

Life on the Refrigerator Door-Alice Kuipers

Life on the Refrigerator Door is a poignant and deeply moving first novel about the bonds of love and frustration that tie mothers and daughters together. Told entirely in a series of notes left on the kitchen fridge—some casual, some intimate, some funny, some angry—it is the story of nine months in the life of 15–year-old Claire and her single mother. Preoccupied with their busy separate lives, rarely in the same room at the same time, they talk to each other in a series of short snippets that reflect the daily drama of school, boyfriends, work and chores that make up their days. Yet the mundane soon becomes extraordinary when a crisis overtakes their lives—a momentous change that will redefine their relationship and unfold in their exchanges on the refrigerator door.
Short, powerful and unforgettable, Kuipers' novel looks deep into the complex relationship between mothers and daughters, and the distances that can open up between people who live together but exist in their own worlds. Unfolding in a wonderfully simple and intimate narrative, Life on the Refrigerator Door will appeal to readers across the generations, delivering universal lessons about love.
I have been searching for this book 1 year ago and then yesterday i have finally found it in the Ho Chi Minh City Book Festival occurred from 15-22 of March in Le Van Tam park. I totally love this boook!

The Battle Of The Labyrinth

This book is about Percy Jackson, Annebeth, Grover and Percy's half brother Tyson's adventure to the Labyrinth. They went in to the Labyrinth to stop Kronos's army coming to the heart of the camp through the Labyrinth. They went in to find Daedalus who had constructed the maze and who has the Ariadne's string which is the only solution to get out from the maze or find the way in the maze. While doing activity which was to kill monsters out in the forest and collect a material which they had, Percy and Annebeth sucked into a hole for like few minutes but when they got out and found other camp friends, they said that Percy and Annebeth had been missing for an hour. Clarrisse and Annebeth said the hole Percy and she sucked into was the entrance to the Labyrinth. Annebeth's dream was to be a architecture and she loved every peice of arts, Chiron decided that Annebeth could be the leader of this quest and there should be other 2 members. Annebeth insisted that they need 3 members including Tyson but it was the ancient law to go on a quest with 3 people. They went into the maze and found Nico in the maze having deal with Geryon who was a trader. Nico who was the son of Hades was has been missing and Percy was sorry for him for her sister Bianca's death. Nico was with a ghost and was offering a soul which could be used to bring her sister Bianca back to life. Percy said to Nico that Bianca wouldn't want to be bring back with sacrifice therefore they send a iris messege to Bianca. Bianca didn't want herself being back to life and Nico was depressed. The ghost who was with Nico was Minos who is the dead king and the judger of the death. Percy went to Hephaseutus, who is the god of flame's work shop and asked for where Daedalus was staying at but he didn't tell. Percy then asked for a deal which made Hephaseutus laugh. He asked if you can find the intruders in the workshop of his in Mount St. Helens. Percy found out that the Kronos's follower has been coming in and making weapon for him. Percy sneaked in but he was caught. Percy remebered the word that the spirit of the water said, 'the water is always inside me' Percy called out for water and they all died but Percy was unconcious. Percy was then back to the half blood camp and Hephaeutus told him where the Airdrne's string was but he said it wouldn't be the solution for your quest. Quntus who was new assistant disappeared who used to be in the camp. Percy thought he betrayed but when Percy went back to the Maze he found him. Quntus wasn't traitor and didn't work for anyone else. He was Daedalus. He transferred his body by time. Daedalus already gave the string to Luke and Kronos's army came and attacked Daedalus as well. He then figured that he was tricked and helped Percy with fighting. Nico came as well and Percy, Annebeth and Nico flew. Grover and Tyson was missing in the Mount St. Helens and Percy was worried. Percy found Grover unconcious and Tyson sitting on the ground. He found Pan, the missing wild god. Pan was dead and Grover and everyone else went to camp to prepare for the battle with Luke. The camp won the battle with Kronos's army but there was lots of injury and people suffering. Chiron got his leg broken. Percy then returned to his mortal house and finds his dad, Poseidon greeting mom...

Girls Out Late-Jacqueline Wilson

Girls Out Late is set in London, England. It is a story about a young girl, Ellie, and her two best friends, Madga and Nadine, who are finding out how difficult it can be to be fifteen years old.
Ellie finally meets a boy that she really likes, and he is crazy about her. But she comes home late for curfew and then gets caught in a lie. That makes it hard for her to see the boy that she met. Then, she is faced with a tough decision, picking between a boy she really likes and her two best friends. At first, she picks the boy, boy, but after a silent treatment from Magda and Nadine, she realizes that no boy is more important than her girls.
Then the three girls, while they are supposed to be at a concert, find themselves in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by people they don’t know, doing bad things. But they make it home safely later that night. The next day, they all get caught and are in big trouble!
I really enjoyed this book. The book was very believable. It almost felt like I was there with Ellie, Magda, and Nadine, and all three girls’ characters were very likeable. They were all a little bit different in their own way, but still adorable. Then there are other interesting characters, like Nadine’s mom and Ellie’s little brother.
I think that this was a really great book, mostly for personal reasons. It reminds me so much of my friends and me.I’m sure any girl my age would feel the same way. Therefore, I would recommend this book to anyone from the ages of 13-16.

(please note, I read this novel some time ago after the reading challenge commenced but I kept on forgetting to blog it)

Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief

Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is kicked out of another boarding school again. From there, Percy goes with his Mom to the beach, where he meets the Minotaur and defeat him. But Percy's mom vanishes before his eyes and Grover, a friend, is a satyr. But that's the least of his troubles, mythological creatures, Gods has started entering Percy's life. And even worse, on his days at Half-Blood Hill, he is the prime suspect for the thievery of Zeus' master lightning bolt. Now Percy, along with Annabeth - the daughter of Athena - and Grover, have ten days to find and return Zeus' bolt to prevent the war between the gods. But to complete the quest, he must find out about his god father, the mysterious content hidden within the Oracle's riddle...

For some reason, I got glued to the book for a whole day and finished it on the morning of the next day. It was entertaining and action packed. But the main reason I was interested in this book because its main subject is the Greek Mythology. It is a main rival of Harry Potter, even has some certain aspects of Harry Potter: Houses are changed into cabinets, etc.

Yoo Hyun, bring me the second book on Monday!

Tapes of River Delta - Peter Cunningham

I wonder why the book is so expensive ($138.00! literally! well, the $14.95 part printed on the book is recommended only so... ) so i've read through it to see if it is truly that expensive.
The story is about Theodore Shortcourse who is betrayed in love, used and abused by dark forces, as unsure of his origins as of his future and his story of his troubled family, of his boyhood friends Bain Cross and Pax Sheehy, and of the uncertainties and secrets each of them must confront as they rises to power in the political world. Their history is one of allegiances given and withdrawn, all of them over shadowes by the powerful and enigmatic presence of Theo's mother, herself the victim of an old crime that no one dares to speak of.
Writting the plot of it is already breathtakingly brave because the story is really complex. If you are brave enough to just take a glance at the first chapter, the you are really really brave. Not that the vocabulary is complicated (as a matter of fact, it is really simple), the main story is like you have a ball of wool but you don't know how to knit!

Oscar and Lucinda

Keep digging in, i found this book which is by Peter Carey. He looks very young at the 'black and white' picture on the back cover but he is not (because this book was published in 1988).
The story is about
the Cornish son of a Plymouth Brethren minister who becomes an Anglican priest who named Oscar Hopkinds , and Lucinda Leplastrier, a young Australian heiress who buys a glass factory. They meet on the boat over to Australia, and discover that they are both gamblers. Lucinda bets Oscar that he cannot transport a glass church from Sydney to a remote place at Bellingen. This bet changes both their lives forever. And if you want to know how it changes them, you've got to find out yourself (since i don't really get that part also...).
I really like the betting part but not really with the changing one. Things start to get complicated their. It is very interesting that at the back of the book there is a glossary where there are words that you may find hard to understand, like swy (now i know that swy is a gambling game...), unfortunately, there are only eight words in that glossary so you wouldn't be able to get the whole novel... But check it out, may be you understand it better than me and find it interesting.

The Monkey King

Almost a month now since i've started to dig in my mom's old book shelves. 3 weeks ago, i went through a bunch of books which most of them are about criminals and laws (since my mom is a lawyer) i found a very interesting book called 'The Monkey King'. At first i thought: "Who am i kidding? I am not going to read a 'monkey' story!" and i actually thought it was lame. But well, sooner or later, i would still have to read it because if i wouldn't i would have to read law books (which i terribly don't like).
This book is by Timothy Mo, who i've never heard of before i've started to read the book.
The plot is very easy to understand since it is 'irresistibly' funny. In the story, the Poons, as the people of Hong Kong gossip about, have plenty of money. But when Wallace Nolasco marries May Ling (who is the daughter of the house of Poon, he finds he has been sold short. Old Mr Poon rules the family with a misery hand; the family mansion is shabby and neglected, the ier meagre - nd the only signs of wealth are the gold ngots buried in the cesspit. Wallace is relegated to the very bottom of he household pecking order, But like the Monkey King of Chinese legend, he is a born survivor, with a hidden reserves of craft and endurance.
I've really found this book richly entertaining novel of domestic tyranny and revolt written wih deft irony and comic flair. I don't really think that this book is available at school so if you really want to read it, i would probably let you borrow it (probably).

The Five People You Meet In Heaven

Eddie is a wounded war veteran, an old man who has lived, in his mind, an uninspired life. His job is fixing rides at a seaside amusement park. On his 83rd birthday, a tragic accident kills him as he tries to save a little girl from a falling cart. He awakes in the afterlife, where he learns that heaven is not a destination. It's a place where your life is explained to you by five people, some of whom you knew, others who may have been strangers. One by one, from childhood to soldier to old age, Eddie's five people revisit their connections to him on earth, illuminating the mysteries of his "meaningless" life, and revealing the haunting secret behind the eternal question: "Why was I here?"...

This, the 3rd book from Mitch Albom, is truly a masterpiece of art about life. The concept of heaven is very interesting: it's not a place where you fly over cotton candy-like clouds and sweet cream mountain or whatever, it is WHERE you must face the truth and the lessons from life, no matter how bitter it may seems. Only 5 people can tell you the answers to the secrets that you have seek, only that you may rest in peace. It is a dedication to the unrest soul. Again, I won't recommend it for anybody since the subject is philosophy so many of you guys would fall asleep after a while.

Remember Me?

This is anotehr one of Sophie Kinsella's book and again it is a brilliant story and i absolutely adored it; it was like the pages were turning by themselves. Thsi book is about a 28 year old woman called Lexi Smart. One day she wakes up with an unbarable headache and her whole body basically aches all over. However that is the least of her concerns when she realises that actualy it isnt her body at all. Her teeth are perfectly straigth and unnaturaly white. Her body is tanned. Her handbag is Loui Vuitton. She has no idea what her name is. There she lies with no clue what at all of who she is and she realises that she is sitting on a hospital bed.

It is later explained to her that she had survived a car accident - in a Mercedes Benz no less - and she has lost a huge chuk of her memory, three years to be exact, and shes about to find out just how much things can chage in three years.

Somehow Lexi went from a 25 year old supermarket assistant to a corporate big shot with a sleek new apartment, a personal assitant, a carb free diet and a set of glamorous friends. Oh and who is this georgous husband - who also happens to be a millionaire?

FIND OUT BY READING THIS BOOK FOR YOURSELF (again this is not recomended for boys)

But i loved it so girls feel free to borrow it from me if you like.

Swimsuit

This is a book written by James Patterson who I personally think is brilliant. This story is about a breathtakingly beautiful supermodel that dissapears from a swimsuit photo shoot at the most glamorous hotel in Hawaii. Only hours after she goes missing, Kim McDaniels' parents receive a horrifying phone call (undiclosed information - only for those who read this book will find out what the phone call says) and then go on a desperate hunt for their beloved daughter. They board a flight to Maui they hire an Ex-cop Ben Hawkins to help them reterive their daughter.

All the while, the killer sets the stage for his next production. His audience expect only the best from him - after all he is considered the best. He doesnt want to dissapoint them for it could cost him his life.

Will she survive?? YOU WILL NEVER KNOW UNLESS YOU READ THIS BOOK HAHA

In my opinion this book is full of suspence and desire for the killer to be hit by a truck or die any kind of violent death all throughout the story that you are on the verge of pulling all your hair out.

Love, Stargirl

This book was written by Jerry Spinelli. It is about a girl called stargirl (a bit weird but it makes her all the more unique - if you read this book you will find that most names in here are very weird like theres this girl called Dootsie in this book and if thats not weird then i dont know what is) and she has recently moved away from her the place she has lived her whole life: Arizona. She's left behind her Friends. Her home. Her once (and future?) boyfriend Leo the most important thing in her life. But then in her strange new home she meets her wonderfully weird new Neighbours: Dootsie (haha funny name) who is the five year old curly headed "human bean"; Betty Lou, who hasnt stepped out of her house for nine years; Hot tempered completely insane Alvina (haha funny name again) with a single glitterry finger nail as the only sign that she is actualy female; and Perry Delloplane (hehe like perry the platipus) the blue eyed theif.

This whole book is a letter to her former boyfriend Leo - a letter that she writes ove the course of a year.

So read it to find out more..

When i picked up this book at 4 pm at my friend albas house i didt put it down until 4 am on that same day. It was as if my eyes were glued to it. So id say that this is a brilliant book and people should defenetly read it. Although i think that this book is aime more towards girls then boys.

The Highwayman's Footsteps

If you liked Fleshmarket, you will love this!People say they liked Fleshmarket because it was gripping and because it vividly showed what it would have been like to live in poverty at that time. It was also quite often rather shocking and people would wince while reading it - but readers seemed to like wincing. Well, The Highwayman’s Footsteps has many of those elements.
However, some adults said they found Fleshmarket almost too shocking. I don’t think they will think the same about The Highwayman’s Footsteps. There is suffering, and even death - sorry! - but no surgery without anaesthetic. (Not quite). Oh, there are some leeches. And I’m afraid that something rather unpleasant does happen to the ...
But really, it’s just a dramatic, emotional story - pure adventure. No age guidelines - just for anyone who likes adventure. And some nasty stuff.

Marked ..::The House Of Night::..

This book is by an author named Kristin Cast (an "a" away form being Kristina) and i also recommend it to people who like vampire novels. This is a very unique story about a 16 year old girl called Zoe Redbird that has just been Marked as a fledging vampire. As a result of this she is forced to abandon her old life, family and friends to move to the House of Night. The House of Night is a special school where vampire fledgings train to become adult and mature vampires. That is if she makes through the change of becoming a vampire - not all who were Marked do. Another problem is the fact that to move to the school she must first tell her psycopathic mother and "step-loser" (step father but she hates him so she calls him that) and that could become a problem. But if they dont bite her head off then she is free to move on with her new life at this unfamiliar school.

And thats all im gonna tell you because i dont wanna spoil the story for you and unless you read the book you will never know what happens to her...

I DEFENETLY RECKOMEND IT TO ALL..

The Titan's Curse

Percy, Thalia and Annebeth went to Westover military school where Grover was protecting the half bloods. There were two half bloods in Westover but Grover seemed that it was hard to contact them or go near them because Dr Thorne who was vice principle of the school was keep interrupting. Grover said Dr Thorne was a monster so we all should be careful. In the dancing party at the school. Thalia who is Zeus's daughter danced and put her eye on the Half bloods Nico and Bianca. Dr Thorne might suspect us as demigods so Thalia and we were more careful. When Percy was in, Thalia, Grover and Annebeth disappeared as well as Nico and Bianca. Percy went on finding them and Dr Thorne appeared in front of Percy and changed into his true form and fought. He was aware of Percy and other demigods friend. Thorne knew that Percy was Poseidon's son. Thorne was a manticore and Bianca and Nico saw his true form. They didn't know their identification therefore they were confused at the beginning. The Manitcore was beating Percy and Thalia, Grover and Annebeth appeared. Thalia took out her spear and attakced the Manticore. The Manticore hit Thalia into her shield and Thalia flew away. Then there was a arrows flying from somewhere and hitting the Manticore. It was Artemis and her Huntresses. Percy didn't recognize Artemis in the first place because she was so young. Looked like 12 years old girl. Annebeth was injured by the Manticore and fell to the cliff. Percy was desperate to find her but Artemis stopped him. Manticore was dead and Artemis asked Bianca if she wanted to be huntress rather than going to the half blood camp. Artemis's huntress group was made up of girls 10 to 14 years old. Zoe was her lieutenant. Artemis thought there would be more dangerous monsters than the Manticore and went on hunting and asked to Apollo to take us all including Nico and the huntresses. Apollo took them with his sun cart but it looked like a very expensive sports car. In the half blood camp, Nico was joined and huntresses stayed in cabin 13. Zoe led them to the cabin 13 and there was going to be capturing the flag tomorrow. Chiron said it is always hanged when the huntresses visited the half blood camp. Percy announced to everyone and the next day, the capturing flag begun. Thalia went on offense and Percy stayed on defense. Percy wanted to be offense therefor he left the flag and accelerated to the huntress's flag. Bianca tried to stop Percy but she couldn't stopp Percy. Percy fell down while going and Zoe and other hunters already captured the demigods flag. Thalia was angry and fought with Percy but the fight was soonly stopped by Chiron. Suddenly then, the oracle appeared behind and said the prophecy. There was a story about someone being killed by their own parent. Artemis was captured by the enemy and Chiron made a group to go on the quest to save her. There should be 2 demigods and 3 huntress's Zoe, Bianca went from the huntresses and Thalia and Grvoer went on demigods. Grvoer wasn't a demigod but he could sense enemy. I wanted to save Annebeth who fell down on that day therefore i followed her secretly with Blackjak, a horse that has wings that make it flies. With the invisible hate i found out that the Titan's general and Luke was trying to destroy the demigods and huntresses on quest. I had to show them myself following and told them what happened. Zoe was pretty shocked when he heard there was the Titan lord. We all went to sky where Atlas hold the sky. We went through the dragon with hundred of heads and saw Artemis holding the sky. Percy hold the sky instead of Artemis for a moment and when Artemis hit Atlas and flew to the ground front of the sky, Percy released and gave the sky to Atlas. Zoe was hit by his father Atlas and she was nearly dead. The prophecy was right. Percy, Thalia and Grover went to the Olympus for the winter solestics and met the gods. Percy, Thalia and Grover was awarded and Thalia joined the huntress with Artemis. That day when Percy fought Atlas, Luke fell down from the cliff while fighting Thalia but Poseidon said that he saw Luke's boat that carries Kronos's body piece. Annebeth was rescued safetly back to the half blood camp. Bianca was killed by one of the monster and Nico was shocked by that news. Percy was so sorry for him then the skeleton armies came. Percy said Nico to run but he didn't believe Percy anymore. Nico blocked his ears and yelled go away and suddenly all the skeleton army died from the flame. Percy looked at Nico with amazement and figured out that Nico is son of Hades who is the god of the underworld...

vampire accademy

The author of this book is Richelle Mead. This book consists of two main characters: Lissa Dragomir and Rose Hathaway. Lissa is a Moroi Princess: a mortal vampire with a rare gift for harnessing the earths magic, and sadly is the last in the blood-line of the Dragomir family - after her parents and brother have been brutely murdered. Rose Hathaway's, Lissa's best friend, sole purpose for living is to become Lissa's guardian and protect her from the Strigoi: the fiercest vampires - the kind that never die and live to kill. Rose is a Dhampir meaning that through her veins flow a powerful blend of human and vampire blood, making her a suitable rare and precious guardian for Lissa. Until one day she decides that she is bored of going to school and learning how to be a guardian and sweeps Lissa away from her duties into the free outside world.
After two years of freedom, Rose and lissa are caught and dragged back to St. Vladmir's Academy, a school for Vampire Royalty and their guardians-to-be, hidden in the deep forests of nothern Russia (one of the reasons i decided to read this book is that its situated in russia).

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!!! I DEFENETLY RECCOMEND IT

percy jackson and the lightning thief

this is a mis understqnding sorry

safe harbour by danielle steel

Safe Harbour is a book that i dont particularly like because it is very mature and is more about life problems, ect. It is about a lady called Dana Underhill, she is an artist and known for painting sea views, she is from a small town on the beach in the US but lives on a lake in paris, the rest of her family live in the small, quiet beach town where they grew up, the womans sister, Lily, died with her husband, Mike, on a sail boat (the family loved sailing) and left her two children, Quinn, the wild one, was 12 and Allie, the sweet innocent one, was 10, Dana knew nothing about children and was usually known as the fun aunt who brought them candy and art supplies from france. Dana had just broken up with her boyfriend, Jonathan, in Paris, his excuse was that she was too depressed about her older sisters death (of course, this only made her more depressed), but she then found Jonathan and her vietnamese model (yes, I said vietnamese) together after in bed (further depression). Dana needs help but all the help she's getting is from her mother who sits there and complains for hours on end about how Dana should come to her senses and move back with them... Until one night at one of Dana's art shows, she meets sam, well its not really the first time, when Dana was 18 and Lily was 20 they decided to raise money doing the one thing they loved the most, sailing. Sam was one of their students, only he did it for free because he and his family had no money at the time. Sam was now grown up, about 28 and still remembered Dana after the time she saved his life when he fell overboard.
The rest of this book is a blur because the emotions are every where, this book would of been more intriguing if it was shorter because the emotions are too much to handle.
i recommend this book to people who like more emotional or heart wrenching books mixed with a bit of adventure. this book is hard to read because every second Dana or Quinn (who has a lot of problems) are showing new emotions.
this book is written in 3rd person.

The Woman in Black by Susan Hill

Arthur Kipps, a young man of only twnety-three years, is sent by his boss to Crythin Gifford on a mission to reprsent their firm at a dead client's funeral and to basically come back with the deseased Mrs.Drablow's documents. It seems like a simple affair, no complicated matters or anything at first, however, little does Arthur know that his encounters there will haunt him forever. At the old lady's funeral, Arthur spots a woman with a pallid and wasted face and when he mentions it to his companion, Mr.Jerome, he becomes very agitated as are all the other villagers when the topic turns to that mysterious woman in black. He sees her again, at Eel Marsh House, and Arthur becomes very unsettled but curious by this phenomenon. Who is the woman? Why are people so afraid of her? Is she even real, even alive? And why does she wear that expression of twisted malice and hatred? What is her story?

I enjoyed this novel immensly though at first when I just started reading it, I was wondering what type of novel it was going to be like and the answer is that it is probably the most horror-like horror novel I've ever read. OK, I've never really read a lot of horror novels anyway but there are some books which say "Seriously Scary" but are "SERIOUSLY as far from scary as possible". Susan Hill is brilliant at creating this eery and tense atmosphere and clear, vivid description that makes you dread what might happen next. This may be partly due to the fact that you can accurately imagine yourself, what it would be like to be trapped in darkness in this isolated house in the middle of nowwhere with fog outside and spooky noises. It's true that the plot is quite simple but the writer's fantastic use of other techniques make up for this.

Face

I have been reading this very interesing book about a boy called Martin. Martin is the most popular boy in school and is part of a group called "The Group Of Three". He is a very naughty boy and does many things that make him the most popular. Martin has a 'girlfriend', as he calls her, named Natalie. She thing he is very naughty too. One day Martin and his friends from the group of three, Matthew and Mark, go to the fair and later decided to step into the car of a old 'friend',except for matthew who agrees with him self that he will not because he think the man is a drug guy. the car that 2 of the boy are in is chased by the police because the man was indead a bad guy and they crash. martin burns his face and no long is the boy he used to be. This book is recocmended to people that like faces and people like me.

Bad girls

Bad girls is about a poor girl who being teased and bully at school a lot and her name was Mandy. She was embarassed by her parents a lot especially at night. Mandy wished she was adopted so her adopted parents can be stylish and hippy unlike her real parents, who dressed really old and simple.
At school, Mandy know a girl called Kim who was the tallest and skinnest girl. Kim said "when she gets to 16 years old she will be a super model." Melanie and Sarah who were Kim best friends also compliment themselves just like Kim. But they were not beautiful and fit like their friends. As Mandy alway wished to be fit in and be one of the popular kid best friend she made up story about her adopted. instead of saying she wanted to be adopted Mandy said it as if her imagine mom and dad were real. Kim know that she is lying, because Melanie mom is Mandy mom best friend so they came over for tea mostly. They talked a lot about Mandy how she was a miracle child. Kim was so furious of liars so she chased Mandy around the school and outside the streets. As Mandy was escaping from Kim she didnt see where she was going a bus ran over her. When Melanie and Sarah saw the situations they all ran quickly away.
In my opinion, this is a tragic and really wonderful story to read because it is really easy to understand. furthermore, it tells us not to judge our parents and not making up lies to our friends. I recommend this fantastic book to primary children from year 4- year 6.

The Sea of Monsters

The Sea of monsters is the second series of Percy Jackson. This story is about Percy Jackson going to the Sea of Monsters to collect the golden fleece. This golden fleece is the only object that could heal Thalia's pine tree which has been posioned by Luke who is the son of Hermes and also the servant of Kronos who is the king of titans. Luke has been trying to collect the golden fleece to heal Kronos and Percy and Anennebeth tried to collect the golden fleece to heal the Thalia's pine tree, the tree which protected the half-blood camp from monsters entering. Thalia is Zeus's daughter but she died while trying to save Annebeth and Luke long time ago, Zeus who is the king of gods pitied Thalia and turned her into a pine tree to protect the half-blood camp but it was now posioned and monsters was enetering the camp. Chiron who was the camp trainer was dismissed. The gods thought that Chiron who is Kronos's son has posioned the pine tree in order from his father. The new camp trainer Tantalus from the underworld. Tyson was also Poseidon's son which means he was Percy's brother. Tyson was a Cyclop. Grover who is Percy's best friend who went on a journey to find the golden fleece has been sending some kind of telepathy to Percy that he needs help here. Percy tried to get permission from Tantalus to get a quest but he didn't allowed Percy. The god of thieves Hermes came to Percy and gave him equipment and compass in order to help his journey to the Sea of Monster. Percy went to the Sea of Monsters with Annebeth and Tyson without permission from Tantalus. Percy met Clarrisse who is the daughter of Ares. Percy had to go through Charybdis which is some kind of mail strom. Charybdis sucked up the sea and spited it out. Grover was trapped by the big Cyclop who eats stayr. Percy, Clarrisse, Annebeth and Tyson fought the big Cyclop and save Grvoer from the big Cyclop. The camp leader Mr. D has heard Luke and Percy's conversation about posioning the pine tree and luke confessed that he did it on his own. Chiron was innocent and he was back to the camp trainer and Tantalus was dismissed. The gloden fleece was used to Thalia's pine tree and Thalia came back to life!

Bloodline by Kate Cary

John Shaw returns from war, ill and feverish from delirium as well as gruesome nightmares of his encounters that involve his former captain, Quincey Harker. He vaguely remembers Harker feeding on the blood of the enemies and the unnatural strength and habits of his CO. John slowly recovers under the tender care of Mary Seward, a nurse who secretly read his journal, and dismisses his memories as hullicinations due to trench fever. All is going well, until Harker appears again at his home and even worse, John's sister Lily falls in love with him! As their relationship becomes increasingly intimate, Lily runs off with Harker to Romania to be wed for eternity. By now, John and Mary's suspicions have been confirmed- they know that Harker is no ordinary man but a vampire, a creature of the night. They don't know exactly what he is planning to do with Lily but if they don't wrestle her from his grasp before St.Andrew's Eve, Lily's soul will be blackened and tainted beyond return.
This novel isn't boring but is extremely unoriginal. There seem to be a lot of novels about vampires nowadays and this one isn't a particularly interesting one, however, if you absolutely love vampire romance stories than maybe you might want to try this.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Rodrick Rules

I borrowed this book and I finished it in one day.

Greg Heffley is just trying to put the summer and its events behind him. It would be a lot easier if his mean older brother Rodrick didn't know his darkest secret. All Greg has to do is keep Rodrick quiet and keep his journal out of Rodrick's hands and everything should be OK, well not OK, but tolerable.

This book was a good read, simple grammar and vocabulary so I think everyone could read it. It has lots of humor in it, since I didn't read the first one so I don't know much about the characters in the story. Overall, RODRICK RULES gives us lots of Greg's funny take on the world around him through his comics-laced journal. Greg's in a lot of scrapes , and worse than that, his bully brother Rodrick knows one of Greg's secrets that could definitely get him into trouble and threatens to tell the world. Here comes the brotherly blackmail ! (Oh I wished I could do that to my older brother XD)

Angels&Demons by Dan Brown

When Robert Langdon, American symbologist at Havard, is woken up at the crack of dawn by a phone call, he isn't expecting one from Maximillian Kohler, Dierector of CERN (the worlds top nuclear reseach centre, home to thousands of scientists from all over the globe) nor an epic adventure that will soon follow. At the reserch facility, a murder has occured. Physist, Lepnardo Vetra has been branded with an ambigram of the most powerful, efficent and most massive anti-Catholic organization- Illuminati. His daughter Vittoria rushes to join them and reveals stunning results concerning a secret project she and her father have been working on.
Apparently, Leonardo recreated a mini-scale version of the Big Bang and from it, samples of anti-matter. The largest being a quarter of a gram, enough to incinerate nine city blocks and devastating destruction. However, someone has stolen it and the Swiss Guard have just located the the canister-in Vatican City- the city of the pope. Unless, Langdon and Vittoria manage to bring the time bomb back before midnight, it will detonate. Therefore, blowing up the smallest and one of the most sacred countries in the world as well as all the cardinals inside and thousands of precious sculptures, sacred artefacts etc. A raging religious conflict may soon come to an ultimate end but who will be the winner?

As soon as I read less than one fifth of this novel, I noticed many similarities that appear in "The Da Vinci Code",however, as the plot progresses, you will realize that it is much more fast-paced, exciting and original. Dan Brown excellently builds up the tension through the chase towards the end and use of detailed charactersation is present. One of the characters who seemed innocent and sane turned out to be the manipulative mastermind behind everything. If you enjoy mystery/thriller tales with a mild dose of science-fiction then I would recommend this to you.

Percy did as what he asked but it took him a while because the shield was a trap to catch Ares. Percy took it to Ares and Ares told him more about his mother and gave him a backpack. His mother was alived but dissolved and absorbed to somewhere. Percy went to Underground and met Hades. Percy asked for the bolt but Hades said you already have the bolt in your backpack. Percy opened the backpack which Ares gave him and there was the bolt. Percy didn't know what was going on and went out from the underworld. Ares fought him until the police appeared. Ares wanted war and made him to steal the Bolt but Percy thought someone else ordered Ares to do so. Percy gave the bolt to Zeus and met his father for the first time. Hades got his helmet back and released Percy's mother from the underworld

Tuesdays with Morrie

The second Mitch Albom's book that I read. Tuesdays with Morrie left a mark in my soul, making me ponder about the teacher-student relationship.

Maybe, it was a teacher? Or a grandparent? Someone old and wise, who has experienced life's obstacles, who know you better than you really do and who is always there to lift you up when you were young and impassioned. For Mitch Albom, it was Morrie Schwartz, the sociology teacher who has taught him more than twenty years ago. Perhaps... you want a second chance... to seek that person's compassion and advice for your bumping life. Mitch also got that chance when he sat down once more time with his beloved teacher, seeking wisdom about acceptance, communication, love, values, openness, happiness. He describes to Albom the importance to forge his own culture, in comparison to how popular culture has become a dictator under which human communities must suffer. The Tuesdays teaching go on, as Morrie slowly dying from ALS...

I really love this book, it has ,somehow, planted a new way I look at life... But I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone because it's not action-packed and anything. It's a serious book, and I am sure most of you would fall asleep from the second page. Still, it's a good book, reflecting how life becomes in a professor's eyes and the complex teacher-student relationships.
