The author of this book is Richelle Mead. This book consists of two main characters: Lissa Dragomir and Rose Hathaway. Lissa is a Moroi Princess: a mortal vampire with a rare gift for harnessing the earths magic, and sadly is the last in the blood-line of the Dragomir family - after her parents and brother have been brutely murdered. Rose Hathaway's, Lissa's best friend, sole purpose for living is to become Lissa's guardian and protect her from the Strigoi: the fiercest vampires - the kind that never die and live to kill. Rose is a Dhampir meaning that through her veins flow a powerful blend of human and vampire blood, making her a suitable rare and precious guardian for Lissa. Until one day she decides that she is bored of going to school and learning how to be a guardian and sweeps Lissa away from her duties into the free outside world.
After two years of freedom, Rose and lissa are caught and dragged back to St. Vladmir's Academy, a school for Vampire Royalty and their guardians-to-be, hidden in the deep forests of nothern Russia (one of the reasons i decided to read this book is that its situated in russia).
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!!! I DEFENETLY RECCOMEND IT
