Inspector Thanet Series: The Night She Died

A classic whodunit book. Written by Dorothy Simpson.

Inspector Thanet is investigating a case of the murder of Julie Holmes. Julie was stabbed in the chest by a kitchen knife. There are 3 primary suspects along with 5 irrelevant suspects. Before Julie was murdered, she suffered a hideous nightmare about her trapped in a cage and emotionally shattered. Could the nightmare be any relevant to her death? Could Inspector Thanet was not solving one murder case but... two?
At first this book was very interesting and suspense. Simpson has made almost every scenes of the book descriptive and detailed, making the readers imagining them clearly. Simpson also has done a pretty good job on building tensions with twists. The plot disappointed me, half of the plot is about investigating 5 irrelevant suspects and to my disappointment, it was a waste of time and the conclusion is very abrupt and lame. There are tons of vocabulary and some old English words (since this book was published in 1981).
