Darren Shan has always had a predilection for spiders. He and his best friend Steve secretly attend a freak show and they see many unusual yet marvellous performances, however, the act that captivates them the most is Mr.Crepsley and his humongous spider, Madame Octa, that can perform wonderful stunts unlike any other arachnid. When Darren decides to nick Madame Octa for his own ends and Steve confronts Mr.Crepsley about his 'secret identity', none of them have any idea that their actions will change Darren's future life beyond the point of return.
This novel is supposed to be a horror novel and it looked like a promising one at first but it is really NO WHERE near 'frightening' at all and I would not recommend this book to those of you who aren't fans of horror either because the plot is not particularly interesting or unique.
