Wolf Brother- Chronicles of ancient darkness- Michelle Paver

This is a novel that i like because it is different than most story lines. This is set about 4000 years ago when people lived in clans and tribes. It is about a boy called Torak who lived with his father, alone, even though they were in the Wolf clan. It starts out with he and his 'fa' recovering from a bear attack, but not any bear, a possessed bear. Fa would not be able to recover so he sends Torak to the mountain of the world spirit, this mountain has never been found before so Torak doesn't know why his fa is making walk to the mountain range at least afew day walks ahead. Fa made Torak swear on an oath to make it to the mountain or die trying, he also said Torak needed to find his guide. Once Torak starts to get ready the sense of the bear returns and Torak is forced to move forward with his oath. Outside of his campsite he finds a wolf cub who's family has been killed by the demon, he thinks this is an easy meal but he can't bring himself to hunt him, somehow Torak can understand him. The wolf accompanies the twelve year old in his journey and somehow knows exactly where to go to get to the mountain of the world spirit. He is then held captive by the Raven clan with Wolf, they call him the listener and try to decide wether to sacrifice him or not, because of a prophecy. There he learns that the reason he can speak to wolves is because his mom died when he was only 2 moons (months) old and his dad put him with a pack of wolf cubs to be cared for by the mother of the cubs, speaking to wolves is part of the prophecy. He is set free by the leaders niece, Renn, they then go on a journey to find the mountain with Renn. But the clan is not far behind, neither is the demon bear.
This is a great book that i recommend for ages 10 and up.
