The Lake House

This novel is the sequel to "When the Wind Blows" written by James Patterson, author of no.1 bestsellers and is just as fantastic as its prequel.

'The School', a lab where scientists conducted gruesome experiments on embryos, animals and even humans, was obliterated by a roaring fire in the first novel but there is still one outlaw lab remaining where the 'Resurrection' project is being prepared, too diabolical and horrific to even imagine taking place. The winged children (Max and co. whose DNA composes of both avian and human) have been returned to their birth parents despite their protests and Frannie's and Kit's but 'normal' life just doesn't suit them. Yet no matter how hard Max and her younger brother Mathew try to blend in, they are still regarded as freaks, mutants and magnets that attract inexplicable hatred.

Before long, armed men intrude upon their home and they are forced to escape and inform other members of the flock. Once again, they're on the run. Max's fears are confirmed- as long as they're alive, there's always be scientists with twisted plans in mind who want to capture them and dissect them or whatever. FBI agent, Kit a.k.a Tom Brennan, and veterinarian, Frannie O'Neill, the only adults and friends the flock can rely on, rush to their rescue.
Only Max knows why they're being hunted and who but she refuses to tell anyone even though Kit needs that vital information to be able to protect them. Will Max dare to reveal the truth?
"You talk, you die."

This novel is a fabulous thriller that will have you hooked till the very last page. There's plenty of action throughout the beginning to end, assassinations, some tragedies, unexpected twists and even a bit of romance in some parts.
